The following foods are rich in absorbable calcium: dark green leafy vegetables, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, sesame seeds, canned Alaskan salmon and sardines. Magnesium, silica, potassium, boron, vitamin D and essential fatty acids are necessary for calcium metabolism. Saturated fats, sodium and phosphorus (carbonated drinks) are calcium antagonists.
ADDITIONAL USEFUL HERBS
Include mineral rich herbs in the diet such as spirulina, parsley and seaweeds (dulse, nori, kombu and hijiki) in the diet. Vitamin D and K are essential for calcium absorption and maintains strong healthy bones.
