A mucous membrane anodyne—it reduces pain in the
throat, stomach and urinary tract. Kava is excellent for genito-urinary
pain such as cystitis, urethritis, painful urination and
inflammation of the vas deferens. It is also a muscle relaxant
useful for fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, muscle spasms and
insomnia with muscular tension. Kava has also shown anxiolytic
activity in many clinical trials. Do not use Kava with hepatotoxic
medications, excess alcohol consumption, or liver disease and limit
use to 2-3 weeks. |
