Recommendations |
Hypertension is associated with
obesity, diet, stress, overuse of stimulants (coffee, tea, ephedra),
excessive sodium consumption, cigarette smoking, as well as the use
of contraceptive pills and familial history of heart disease.
Quitting smoking, reducing sodium consumption as well as caloric
intake and eliminating or reducing coffee intake are all helpful. A
healthy diet low in saturated fats and refined carbohydrates and
rich in soluble fiber, whole grains, legumes and dark green leafy
vegetables is very helpful. Increase consumption of calcium,
magnesium, Co-Q10 and essential fatty acids such as Evening Primrose
oil, Flax seed oil and fish oils. Stress reduction techniques such
as meditation, yoga and deep breathing exercises are particularly
useful. Flower essences may also be very helpful. |
